Every body heals differently, but here's what most BBL patients experience during their recovery. Our team guides you through each phase.
The first few days are the most critical. You'll stay in your 5-star hotel with our team checking on you daily. Expect swelling, bruising, and mild discomfort — all completely normal. Pain medication keeps you comfortable.
Before flying home, you'll have a final surgeon check-up to ensure everything is healing perfectly. We provide a BBL pillow for the flight and clear written instructions for your home recovery.
Swelling begins to noticeably decrease and your new shape starts to emerge. Most patients return to light desk work within 2 weeks. Continue wearing your compression garment and avoid sitting directly on your buttocks.
You'll feel significantly more comfortable. Most patients resume normal daily activities and light exercise. Some transferred fat naturally reabsorbs (15–30%), and your results begin to stabilise. This is when patients start feeling excited about their new body.
By month 3, the majority of swelling is gone and your BBL results are about 80% visible. By month 6, your final shape is fully settled. The surviving fat cells are permanent — this is the body you'll enjoy for years to come.
Following these guidelines is essential for maximising fat survival and achieving the best possible BBL results.
Wear your compression garment — 24/7 for the first 4 weeks, then 12+ hours daily until week 8. This shapes your results and reduces swelling.
Sleep on your stomach or side — Avoid any pressure on your buttocks while sleeping for at least 6 weeks.
Walk gently every day — Light walking from day 1 prevents blood clots and improves circulation for faster healing.
Stay hydrated & eat well — Drink 2–3 litres of water daily and eat protein-rich foods to support healing and fat survival.
Get lymphatic drainage massage — Start within the first week and continue regularly. This dramatically reduces swelling and improves your results.
Use your BBL pillow when sitting — For the first 8 weeks, always use a BBL cushion to keep pressure off the transferred fat.
Take all prescribed medications — Finish your antibiotics and use pain relief as directed. Don't skip doses.
Don't sit directly on your buttocks — For 6–8 weeks. This is the #1 rule. Sitting compresses fat cells and can kill them before they establish blood supply.
Don't smoke or vape — Smoking restricts blood flow and dramatically reduces fat survival. Avoid for at least 4 weeks before and after surgery.
Don't exercise vigorously — No gym, running, or heavy lifting for at least 6 weeks. Light walks only for the first month.
Don't wear tight jeans or trousers — Avoid anything that compresses your buttocks for the first 8 weeks. Stick to loose, comfortable clothing.
Don't soak in water — No baths, swimming pools, hot tubs, or saunas for at least 4 weeks. Brief showers are fine after 48 hours.
Don't take blood-thinning medications — Avoid aspirin, ibuprofen, and supplements like fish oil or vitamin E for 2 weeks post-op unless prescribed.
Don't lose weight rapidly — Dramatic weight loss after BBL will reduce your results. Maintain a stable, healthy weight.

Your medical-grade compression garment is your best friend during recovery. It reduces swelling, supports your new shape, and improves skin retraction. Wear it 24/7 for the first 4 weeks (removing only to shower), then 12+ hours daily until week 8. We provide two garments so you always have a clean one ready.
Lymphatic drainage massage is essential for reducing swelling, preventing fibrosis, and achieving smooth results. We include 3–5 sessions in Istanbul as part of your package. After returning home, we recommend continuing weekly sessions for the first month. We can help you find a specialist near you.
The "no-sitting" rule is crucial for fat survival. For the first 6 weeks, avoid sitting directly on your buttocks. Use a BBL pillow that offloads weight onto your thighs when you must sit. When driving, use the pillow and limit trips to 20 minutes. Standing desks are your best option for work.
What you eat directly affects fat survival and healing speed. Focus on protein-rich foods (chicken, fish, eggs), healthy fats (avocado, nuts), fruits and vegetables, and plenty of water (2–3L daily). Avoid processed foods, excess sugar, and alcohol for the first month.
Light walking from day 1 is encouraged, but avoid all strenuous exercise for 6 weeks. At week 6, you can introduce light cardio (walking, gentle cycling). At week 8–10, gradually return to gym workouts. Full exercise with no restrictions from month 3. Listen to your body.
Sleep on your stomach or side for the first 6–8 weeks to protect transferred fat cells. A pregnancy pillow makes stomach sleeping more comfortable. Side sleeping with a pillow between your knees is also excellent. Never sleep on your back during the first two months.
